Siding Contractors

The outer covering installed on any house or building is called as the siding. The exterior creates the first impression about a house to the onlookers and has the same importance as the interior. Investing in durable house siding not only protects your home, but also gives it an attractive look. House siding is a great option for those who want to renovate their house and give it a new look. Siding contractors can help you in choosing the best house siding for you from a wide range of siding materials which are available. Many of the options for siding materials include wooden siding, vinyl siding, brick siding, aluminium siding, stucco and steel siding. You must take care of the following points while choosing a siding material:
• Durability of the siding
• Maintenance required by the siding
• Weather conditions of your area
• Budget

Wood Siding

Wood is the conventional choice for siding all over the United States and Canada as it gives a feeling of warmth during cold weather. A variety of woods like pine wood, spruce wood, fir wood, cedar wood and red wood may be used depending upon your budget and choice. Wooden siding usually lasts for years if it is properly and regularly maintained. Proper maintenance includes power washing, painting and sealing. The disadvantages of wooden sidings include rotting, pest-infestation and proneness to fire. Wooden siding is far cheaper than aluminium and steel siding.

Vinyl Siding

Vinyl siding is becoming the first choice of home owner these days. Available in a vast variety of patterns and colors, low maintenance and high durability of vinyl makes most of the home owners opt for vinyl siding. It does not need painting and maintenance and just needs an annual washing once a year with a garden hose. Unlike wood, vinyl siding is resistant to pests and termites and can also bear weather variations. The disadvantages of vinyl siding include health hazards and environment concerns. Vinyl siding is cheaper than wood, aluminium and steel siding.

Aluminium Siding

Available in different textures and styles, aluminium siding can be painted in varied colors to suit your home. aluminium siding does not split, rot and is fireproof. aluminium siding is ideal for homes in areas with high moisture content, since aluminium reacts with air to form aluminium oxide, a hard coating which gives it extra strength. aluminium siding is easy to maintain and has long life of about 20 to 25 years.
The disadvantages of aluminium siding include its conduction property, which makes it risky. aluminium siding may chalk, fade, dent or require painting over time. Being metallic, it may interfere with TV and radio reception. Though considered to be Eco-friendly, aluminium siding is an expensive option as compared to wood and vinyl siding.

Stucco Siding

Stucco siding is made up of Portland cement, sand, lime, and water. Pigments may be added to the mixture or it can even be painted to get the desired colors. Applied in three coats, stucco is an incredible insulator of both cold and hot air, and thus maintains the home temperature. Smooth and traditional Spanish look of stucco siding is elegant and eye soothing.

Steel Siding

Steel siding is available in a large number of colors and can also be planned with a wood or textured look. Steel siding is very popular in very cold countries with frequent snowfall. Durability of steel is high and it does not rust, rot, peel, chip or blister. Unlike aluminium, steel is dent resistance and is best for hail prone areas. It never needs painting and is water, fire, and termite proof. But being a metal, it may interfere with your TV and radio reception. Steel siding is more expensive than aluminium and Vinyl siding.
